Participants of this tour navigated the city by listening. Part of the tour focused on the natural sounds of the city, what these tell us about the city and it’s dynamics and how we could use sounds to orient ourselves in a new environment. Another part of the tour was about the music scene: where it is located in Istanbul and how production and networks operate here. Istanbul is a place where diverse types of music are being performed and recorded-themselves of mixed influences. We learned to hear these different influences, how the mixing could create new in music and how such mixed music would be marketed.
